Dot Gain Technology

Dot Gain Technology

Configure the proofing head with an anilox, stickyback and photopolymer plate that match what will be used on press. Burn the proofing plate with an image that includes both solids and 50% dots.

Adjust the proofer’s nips and speeds so they produce a proof on the specified stock where the 50% tone prints at the same gain as will be experienced on press (if 18% dot gain, then the 50% dot reproduces at 68%.) If color and density readings on that proof are correct, that ink formulation will produce the same correct readings once on press.
